Hi, my name is Zoe Turner, founder of MABEMEDIA. I am passionate about providing a platform for women to find their voice and show them how to start a podcast because, for many years, I felt like I didn’t have one. As a child growing up, I was very shy; raised in a fairly strict household, I often heard the words `Children should be seen and not heard` and `Speak when you are spoken to` bellowed in my ear. It was no surprise then that I was a shy child with little confidence, often scared to speak up in class for fear of looking stupid and saying the wrong thing in my early years. This later developed into a fear of speaking in public. Not having a voice affected me not only as a young adult but in my progression as a woman as I allowed my fear of speaking up to hinder my development both personally and professionally. Podcasting has not only helped me find my `voice` it has provided me with a platform to enable my voice to reach others. It had also introduced me to many people who have helped me grow and develop beyond what I ever imagined when I first started the journey.
This is why I am passionate about showing women How they can start a Podcast to get their voice heard. Women who know they have a message to share but have let fear prevent them from speaking out. Here at MABEMEDIA, we guide, support, motivate and inspire you on your journey to have the confidence to speak out and the platform to reach others so that you can serve to your highest potential. I thought it only appropriate to name this platform after a strong woman – my Grandmother – Mabel. One of 11 Mabel left school early to take care of her siblings, which meant she did not fully learn how to read and write, but this never prevented her from achieving success in business with my Grandfather. She was committed and dedicated to her work. My Grandmother was soft yet strong and possessed extraordinary intuition, which helped her a lot in business. One of their most successful businesses was running a busy transport cafe in the North East of England.
